Yesterday we wrote about the “4 Ways for HR to Stop the #GreatResignation” and we were basically saying that HR should:

  1. Drill the “Option for fully or partially remote as the norm is mandatory” message into the understanding of their leaders;
  2. Roll their sleeves and do the actual work of changing the narrative towards it being the time for the human work – the permission to think of EQ, empathy, feelings and humanity, Team Relaunches and moments of re-think, etc
  3. Empower people with the right tools for the human work at a team level -real-time feedback solutions, self-care kits and exercises, CBT, measuring, data, coaching and obviously and most importantly Psychological Safety improving tools, etc-; and
  4. Undertake the massive work that the massive mentality transformation between Command and Control and Trust and Collaboration (and therefore Servant Leadership) implies.

In this video, @ffion and I tackle this imperative need and what it is that HR can do about it. One key thing to remember is that if you empower the teams you’re practically outsourcing the work. If teams have the permission, the support and the tools to better their dynamics and their mindset – they will.

In fact, this is uniquely time-critical and if you don’t go the route of having your teams help you’ll likely fall behind the competition that will because this is not the time for an elaborate 2 years leadership development program or some other type of centralised and therefore slow and possibly ineffective type of training, this is the time for fast and decisive smart action and empowering the teams to upskill and improve themselves – better their Psychological Safety and dynamics and experiment on Servant Leadership through tools and solutions like ours is simply the logical way to go.

We’re in no way underestimating what a huge undertaking all of this is but putting it off by being in denial and wasting time trying to hang on to a pipe dream that things will ever be the same as before Covid, is not making it any easier. Equally, going at it alone by not first empowering teams to better themselves, would be a real pity.
